ISRAEL : Why this is the next trip you should save up for

The land of Israel is very beautiful. It’s an ever-changing landscape of mountains, hills,valleys, streams,lakes, and plains.You’ll find deserts blooming with vegetation, to flower filled walkways, stress-relieving seas in Galilee,majestic ancient ruins in Ceasarea upto the limestone-filled city of Jerusalem;

Everything is breathtaking beyond measure…

My pictures can only do so much justice to the place– so take a stroll (or maybe a scroll) with me, as we take a trip to the Holy Land…Tia Lacson In Mt Nebo, Israel Tia Lacson in Israel Ceasarea Tia Lacson

The time when I started putting my relationship with Jesus first–and by that I meant having a daily relationship with Him, making a conscious effort to correct my old ways, serving Him, and bringing people closer to Him, was also the time He gave my family and I,the chance to visit the Holy Land. It was such a blessing and it came at the perfect time. During our trip, I met quite a number of people that I will be remembering forever:  the sweetest middle-aged couple who looked more in love with each other day by day, Exe,the best Filipina tourguide who touched our hearts so much with the way she delivers her tours, the priest who was so filled with joy and whose laugh always made everyone else laugh along too, and so many amazing people along the way… this just made the trip even more special. Alongside with this wonderful experience,I could not begin to describe just how beautiful this place was…

This place is The Chapel of the Primacy of St. Peter—  it commemorates the post-resurrection sighting of Jesus when, seeing the disciples fishing, He calls them over to the lake side to have breakfast. The church is built over the rock where the fire was lit.

This was at the sea of Galilee- the place where Jesus  went fishing with His apostles, performed miracles and where Peter walked on water. It was such a sight to behold. The Sea of Galilee, is a large freshwater lake in Israel. It is the lowest freshwater lake on earth and the second lowest lake over all, the first being….

The Dead Sea…

With it’s high salinity content, The Dead Sea is a salt lake that is 9.6 times more salty than the ocean  allowing you to float with no effort, at the same time making a harsh environment for living things so that plants and animals cannot survive here, hence the name. It’s bordered by Jordan to the east and Palestine and Israel to the west.  People also gather here to use the mud as a face mask, and to wade and relax. (note that I’m not using the term swim, since the water can really irritate the eyes).

the Church at/and the Garden of Gethsemane, located at the foot of the Mt. of Olives is the place where Jesus Christ had prayed and where His disciples had slept the night before the crucifixion.

The people here in Israel are very ecstatic and welcoming when they see Filipinos; Back in the day, the Phillipines was one of the very few countries who welcomed Israeli refugees and who voted for them to become a nation of their own. They actually made my brother raise the flag and wear the captain’s hat!

Even their food is blessed. The seven fruits for which Israel is praised are all of exceptional nutritional value. Even the secular community labels many of these fruits as superfoods. The health benefits are amazing! Here, I’m holding Fresh strawberry gelato at Ceasarea, which was so so good. We also ate at the best restaurant I’ve been to this whole trip: Porto Cafe, where you can enjoy your meal with a view.

Mt. Carmel

and lastly,Mount Tabor— This is the spot where Jesus knelt down to pray, the door lead to the chapel of Moses. How beautiful is this place?

Jesus spent a lot of time here, and this was where I felt His presence the most; the strongest breeze blew while I was singing praises to Him on the same spot He knelt down to pray. I felt His love for me so much, and I was able to smell such a beautiful scent… flowers fell and I was in such a glorious place and mood, that this was one of my most unforgettable experiences in life.

Many of us have undergone so much hardships and trials, we’ve been rejected, we’ve been oppressed, but once we feel our Father’s presence, once we start talking to Him and know that He loves us so much, that He sees us, It changes everything. It lifts up our burdens. It justifies and even exceeds all pain, and brokenness, and is replaced with peace, grace and love. I was walking back to the tour bus, so overwhelmed, so full of joy, and so free from all chains. This was when I knew that this vacation was going to be different from the rest. I did not only come here to witness the earth’s history. I came here to experience more; the history of Heaven and of Earth. I came here with all my issues, and baggage, and I left with peace and freedom.

Ending this post with my favorite bible verse as of the moment…

Psalms 46:5

“The view of Jerusalem is the history of the world; it is more, it is the history of earth and of heaven.”

[Benjamin D’Israeli]
